Good day! My report for September/10

Tripartite
The next Tripartite meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 30/10. This meeting will be hosted by the City of Winnipeg at 510 Main Street. (City Hall, Admin. Bldg)

The 1st quarter Workplan report has been submitted to the governments. We are awaiting our first payment from the Office of the Federal Interlocutor.

We have submitted a signed copy of the 2009/10 year end financial statement to Aboriginal and Northern Affairs as requested. This will trigger our 3rd installment of $25,000 from the Province.

The 2009/10 Auditors Report is completed and presented here tonight for our review for presentation to the members at the ACW AGM on Wednesday, September 15/10.

Urban Conference – Thursday, October 28/10, Aboriginal Centre
The Province of Manitoba, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Department, has approved funding in the amount of $20,000 for our conference as above. Conference planning is ongoing and the major goal of this conference is to connect with ACW members and the broader urban Aboriginal community.
We are using the Community Engagement report prepared by Leskiw and Associates as a planning tool for the conference. A copy of the letter of invitation to be sent to Ministers and the Mayor and a draft agenda is attached for your review.

ACW Youth Committee and ACW Youth Action Plan
The ACW Youth Committee attended a Retreat at Windy Hill this past weekend. Michelle will provide a brief report of this event at our meeting tonight. A draft of the ACW Youth Action Plan is attached with this report.

Economic Development
Meetings with the City of Winnipeg are ongoing related to the development of a new social enterprise that will create jobs for at risk Aboriginal youth, Aboriginal persons with mental health issues and Aboriginal persons with disabilities.

ACW-MMF Memorandum of Cooperation
Al Benoit is developing a 1st draft of this proposed agreement. I will circulate this document upon receipt of same.
