Good day! My report for June/10

Tripartite
Tripartite Meeting, June 7/10
Workplan & Budget 10/11 – The Workplan and Budget was reviewed and there was a roundtable discussion of the revisions proposed by the Office of the Federal Interlocutor and Aboriginal and Northern Affairs. These revisions are minimal in nature and I will complete the task this week and submit to OFI and ANA immediately.

Heads Up: I will be setting up meetings with the Women's and Youth Portfolio Chairs and the Urban Conference Chairs to discuss and plan around the projects/activities identified in this years Workplan. We also need to confirm a process to identify and recruit members for these committees.

Federal Funding Outstanding: Jeff Betker, OFI representative and I met with Sherri (Bookkeeper) to determine total federal contributions received to date. All required reports have been submitted and approved. Jeff will meet with OFI financial officials upon his return to Ottawa and he will determine the status of the outstanding contributions including the holdbacks. We also discussed future contributions and he recommended that we adjust our cash flow statement submission in order to facilitate more upfront payments at future dates.

Tripartite Evaluation Process: The draft Terms of Reference (TOR) has been finalized by the Working Group. Eleanor Brockington of ANA has agreed to draft a document that will be signed by all the Tripartite partners to acknowledge acceptance of the TOR as the funding mechanism until March 31/12. She will circulate the above referenced template asap.

ACW Urban Conference: I will be revising the draft proposal ($30,000) to ANA with the assistance of Darren Ramsay immediately. Darrell Sais and I were not able to meet last week but that is okay because we discussed the conference and identified a few potential themes/program for same. There will also be an opportunity to discuss this at our Board Retreat this weekend. Youth and youth issues will definitely be a consideration.

City of Winnipeg
As many of you probably know, there is a civic election this fall. The race for Mayor and Council will be interesting. This presents an opportunity for the Council and the community to raise the profile of Aboriginal issues/concerns.
Discussion/Decision: What actions can the Council take to raise the profile mentioned above?

Community Engagement Project Report
This document will be an important part of our deliberations and decision making at this weekend's Retreat. I hope that each of you have had time to review. If not, please do so before the weekend.

ACW Communications/Public Relations
We will be undertaking some important work in this subject area. OFI, ANA, City of Winnipeg and ACW jointly agree that we need to take some concrete steps to raise ACW's profile in the community and to share the Council's positive work and outcomes in a much more visible and transparent manner.

Discussion/Recommendations for Action required.

Although my report is short, I can assure you that we have a very ambitious and focused agenda for this year's Workplan. I know I can count on all of you to help me in achieving these worthy goals.
